On Friday four members of the Lake Placid High School Band performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association District 13 Solo and Ensemble Festival held at Treasure Coast High School. Representing LPHS were Noelia Reyes (flute), Alexander Brito (snare drum), Carlos Astorquiza (alto saxophone), and Jose Rivas-Fernandez (trombone).
All four students received a SUPERIOR rating from the judges for their solo performance! (A Superior is the highest possible rating a student can receive, and this was the first year each of these students attended this festival.) We are extremely proud of them!
We'd also like to recognize and thank Mrs. Julia Burnett for being a wonderful piano accompanist for our soloists!

Congratulations to our Florida Lakes Spa/Florida Lakes Surgical Athlete of the Week Winner, Ana Cortes! Ana is a member of the girls varsity soccer team. Here is what Coach Tomblin had to say about her- Ana has been a starter on varsity all 4 years of high school. She is a key player on the field and had a fantastic soccer season this year. Ana held the back line all season and was even able to score 5 goals from defense! Tune in next week to see who our next Athlete of the Week winner is! ⚽️ 🐉

Over the last week, he averaged 10 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals per game. He’s also been a leader and has set the standard on and off the court. Keveun holds a 3.4 GPA in the classroom! Congratulations, Keveun! 🏀 🐉
