For those unfamiliar with the program, New Worlds Reading mails enrolled students 9 books and reading activities each school year through fifth grade in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, or braille. That’s up to 63 free books and activities by the end of 5th grade if a student enrolls while in VPK! Plus, eligible kids remain in the program through fifth grade, even if their reading scores improve.
Kids can choose which books they’ll receive each year based on what interests them, getting a special package addressed just to them in the mail to spark their excitement. To grow kids’ skills, newworldsreading.com offers free activities, interactive reading guides, and videos that reinforce the science of reading strategies as a resource for families to use with striving readers at home.
