Students:
Costumes should be appropriate for school - no masks, gore, or weapons. Please wear school clothes under your costume.

Parents:
The parade will begin at 8:15am, so please arrive early and make sure to have a physical government ID. Pictures on phones will not be permitted. Please park in the staff parking lot. You will be scanned on to campus at the gate that leads to the parent pick-up area.

Character Book Parade: On October 30th Students can dress up as their favorite character from a book. Attire must be school appropriate: masks, swords, or gory costumes are not permitted. Parents must park in the staff parking lot for this event and must show ID. Parade will start promptly at 8:15am.

October’s Resiliency Word of the Month: Honesty

This month’s Resiliency Word of the Month is Honesty, defined simply as telling the truth.

Here are three quick tips for parents to help foster honesty at home:

  • Recognize and celebrate instances of honesty: Acknowledge when your child shares something they are struggling with or tells you the truth about a mistake that might upset you.

  • Praise truth-telling, even when it’s hard: Reaffirm their effort with positive phrases like, "It’s brave to be honest—I’m proud of you for telling me."

  • Chat about it: Share a personal story about a time when telling the truth was difficult for you and why it ended up being the best decision.

Fred Wild Elementary School presents a Spooktacular Boo Bash Dance! Thursday, October 29th 5:30-7:30pm in the cafeteria. Photoboot, DJ, Food, Candy, and one one entry to our Not So Scary Trick-or-Treating Spooky Trail! Tickets include entry for ONe Adult & One child. Order Now $25. $10 for each additional ticket. 3 and under Free. Each paid ticket includes a meal. Scan the QR code to pay online. Costumes encouraged, but not required to participate. Costumes must be school appropriate - no gore or weapons allowed. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Event only open to FWE students and immediate family.

Kindergarten families may walk their students to the classroom from 7:00 to 7:15 on the first day. Parents must have their ID in order to walk on campus. Please park in the staff parking lot and walk to the gate by Building 9. Please keep your good-byes brief. Staff members will help direct you to your room.
The School Board of Highlands County is excited to launch Highlands PLUS, a brand-new way for non-enrolled and non-traditional students in our community to access high-quality district courses. Students can take as little as one course or several. Courses can be taken in person or virtually through Highlands Virtual School (HVS)! Please note that course availability varies by school.

Whether your student is looking to explore a new passion or get ahead, we offer incredible courses in:
🔬 STEM
🎨 Fine Arts
💼 Career & Technical Education (CTE)
📚 Core Academics (Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies—including Honors!)
💻 Virtual Learning

We are an authorized StepUp for Students provider! We accept payments directly through the EMA portal as well as direct pay options. This program is specifically designed for non-traditional students who may be utilizing the FTC or FES school choice scholarships.

Access to a district Chromebook is fully included in your course enrollment price. Accidental Chromebook damage is covered by paying an annual $10 use fee.
Note: Highlands PLUS is for non-enrolled students, meaning SBHC acts as a contracted service provider. Participants are not enrolled as full-time public school students.
